ONDŘEJ PETRLÍK
*1989

Ondřej Petrlík attempts to use pictures to transform his view into an ideas of a specific figure. This figure then demonstrates elements of abnormality that shift it into an autonomous story. This may be one of the reasons why the figures lack some specific features, such as missing eyes, mouth, wrinkles - all that is replaced by the symbol of a smile as something general, or uniform. A face without a face? Will the ideas collapse and will the symbol be the only thing remaining? The majority of Petrlík’s pictures take us to a world of absurdity, irony, symbols as well as harmony. The process of painting is important for him as gestures may become a motif of the entire picture.
